KU Ombuds Office

Description

The KU Graduate Student Advising and Mentorship Policy was designed to ensure clear roles and responsibilities in the mentorship/advising space, as well as effective working relationships between graduate students and mentors/advisors.   If you are experiencing challenges in your mentoring relationship, there are several pathways to seek support and resolution:

  • Visit your department or program website and/or Graduate Handbook to better understand the resources and departmental policies available to you in your program, including department-specific advising and mentorship expectations, policies related to the possibility of changing advisor, grievance procedures, and both formal and informal means of addressing concerns.
  • Contact the KU Ombuds Office to discuss informal and formal methods of addressing the concerns.
